Adventures in Lord of the Rings online: Dwarfs

Daenelia

Everytime I have had to rely on a dwarf to get me through a quest I've been lead down. They either run in wihtout though of others in their fellowship, or don't bother coming to your rescue. And if things go wrong, they blame every one else.

I don't like dwarfs much. My character is probably even more un-fond of dwarfs. I can hear her grumbling every time we run into some dwarfs.

It all started when we were just level 16 or 17 or so. There was a quest, we could not do it with just two players, so we rounded up some players who happened to be dwarfs. And mostly champions, who just run in blindly because that's what they think they ought to do. There was no communication, and when running in blindly we were mowed down repeatedly. Then when my character was surrounded, the dwarfs just pressed on, while I died. Because they could not be bothered running back to help me out.

This sort of thing happened a few times. Of course there were good dwarfs. But the last time a dwarf was being an asshole was when I was away from my keyboard, while standing in a safe place. I got back to my screen to see my healhtbar down to the last few drops of health. I was being pummeled to death by an Evil Man (lotro naming conventions are .. simplistic).

I quickly dispatched the Evil Man, with Five's help. And turned around to see a dwarf just standing behind us. He'd lead the Evil Man to this safe place, probably while running away and then hid behind us to avoid being killed!

There was a slight argument which I started with 'You dawarf!', because I was too pissed off to type properly...
But karma, you know. It bit me. We did the tutorials for Skirmishes, which are mini quests in a particular setting, where you can go into an instance alone of in a group, accompanies by a pet-soldier. In the tutorials we were accompanied by a blond haired warrior. He did his job well enough.

But when we were offered the choice of a particular class after the tutorial, we decided that as a Hunter I'd be better served with a Protector, and Five, being a Guardian, would pick a Sage, who could do healing and fights with a stick.

Imagine. The first Skirmish we enter... and there is a Dwarf standing next to me! Five's got a cute girl... I get the dwarf!

To ward of any bad luck, I named him Odin. Wish us luck.
