We've finally finished Dragon Age: Origins. What a game!
It took several weeks for us to get through it, usually playing a couple of hours at a time. We took our time to explore the game and complete many of the quests, and it took about 70 hours in total.
Playing on the Easy setting, we only got beaten in combat a couple of times. The real difficulty was making the right decisions as we progressed through the game, mainly because there isn't always a "right" or a "wrong" choice. In case you didn't know, the plot of Dragon Age alters to fit your actions, instead of a linear series of quests that you can either succeed or fail in. Sure, you have a series of grand objectives and you are funneled towards an ending in the same location, but there are a million little occurences that can vary based on your actions. The effects of your choices at key moments in the game will have consequences later on. The game really makes it feel like it's Your Story.
I really can't wait to start playing again! To explore other possibilities in the story, and to get some more satisfaction out of the combat. We've learnt a lot from our first playthrough and next time we'll crank up the difficulty.
