Spotting the goblin moving slowly through the heavy snowfall, the hunter draws an arrow from his quiver and pulls the bowstring tight.  The goblin is downed with a single shot.

Back into Guild Wars

Five

For those of you that don't know the game, Guild Wars is an online multiplayer fantasy RPG that was first released in 2005.  It has many gameplay similarities to MMOs like Everquest or World of Warcraft but also many differences that set it apart from them.  For one thing, there is no subscription fee whatsoever.

Ages with Dragon Age

Five

We've finally finished Dragon Age: Origins.  What a game!

It took several weeks for us to get through it, usually playing a couple of hours at a time.  We took our time to explore the game and complete many of the quests, and it took about 70 hours in total.

iKi; shaken, not stirred

Last night I was drinking the japanese beer "iKi" at the bar in the top floor of the biggest japanese hotel in Amsterdam.  Wearing a black shirt and tie, underneath a black pinstripe waistcoat and suit, I was sipping my beer and looking out over the city at night.  I had a dutch girl to the left of me and a japanese girl to the right.  Very James Bond.

Slip sliding away

Five

One minute I'm strolling along through the winter wonderland we call Europe, the next moment i've slipped on the ice and landed on the floor.  My left knee hit the pavement first, with a sickeningly loud crunch at the point of impact.  The initial pain was as if my knee had been struck with the hammer of Thor himself.  My scream was wordless, yet manly.  Like if Leonidas of Sparta had suffered the same fate.

Random Cards is here

Five

Over the last few weeks i've been preparing the follow-up card game to Five League Football, and here it is.

In Random Cards the objective is to complete different "sets" of cards.  A set represents one franchise such as Lord of the Rings or the Matrix.  You can collect a handful of cards each day, and trade them with other players.  30 different sets, 20 cards per set.  That's 600 cards in total.  I plan to add more sets in the future.

The card game Five League Football has ended after almost a year.  The hall of fame is sitting here.

Thanks to everyone that took part.  I hope you enjoyed collecting the cards.  In fact, a new card game has already begun, but that deserves it's own blog post.

Space game idea part 1

Posted by: Five

Tagged in: IRC

Five

I'm going to ramble some more about the space game idea I mentioned in my previous post.  If one day I will make it, it needs a perfect design.  I've never written anything about this idea before Randomby, it's only existed inside my own head.

Concept

In Theoretical Space Game (TSG) the players are zooming around the galaxy in their space ship, blowing each other to pieces with pew-pew lasers etc.  Victory will be rewarded with credits, with which you can buy parts for your ship.  Let's assume it has warzone-like teams and game modes, except that it saves your ship between games.
Question: Where do you upgrade your ship?

You can recolour Randomby using these style buttons:
Style 1, Style 2, Style 3, Style 4, Style 5, Style 6, Style 7
