Moving

Got word late Tuesday that our new apartment was ready, so in the last two days we've been in the process of moving. Maybe I'll post some photos later but for now we're still not done with curtains/blinds and light fittings and general mess, since we bought some furniture that needed assembling.

canies good friend, a furniture tradesman by profession, assured us that the (cheap) wardrobe we bought was on par with Ikea in terms of quality, or lack thereof. The wretched thing took hours to assemble and there's a problem with one of the double-end screw things - it is roughly 1 mm too short to lock in at both ends. We actually bought a wardrobe double the price of one we first looked at, the only difference between the wardrobes being 25cm extra height on the one we got. Here I was thinking that paying double for something so similar must mean that the quality was less questionable. Ah well, we will find out in a couple of weeks when a friend moves house. He's bought the shorter wardrobe for his new apartment and paid half of what we did. Perhaps he's the smarter one?

Progress.

He was discharged and came home Friday afternoon. I spoke to one of his carers about my feelings on the matter - I was worried that little or no progress had been made, and of course coming home meant access to computer, phone, internet, and - the main issue - the girl again.

The person  spoke to assured me that:
1. He will continue to be followed, now by a mobile team that comes and visits etc etc. He will be seeing the district psych people, who are recommended, as opposed to his previous psychiatrist, who the local government had recommended AGAINST using.
2. Under clear questioning, he had admitted where his 'warm feelings' lie (with me), though he had said enjoys talking with the girl online as she gets him better than I do / is going through similar things.

Progress?

He got admitted to a psych place today. Was badly in need of it for some time anyway. The relationship troubles are still there, and no doubt connected to his poor mental health.

He says he is working at pulling away from this online girl. If the logs are anything to go by, their relationship is more than blossoming. They are becoming more and more dependent on each other, in an unhealthy way. He is not well mentally, and she doesn't seem much better. They are pulling each other down, supporting each other and even to the point where he volunteers to commit suicide with her.

Not a happy Gimmic

Life is very busy lately. I go off to work, canie to school, and when we're finally home again, we each do our own thing. I've been leaving him to his studies, knowing he'd get grumpy with me for interrupting.

I hadn't imagined that he'd feel neglected instead and find a girl online, develop feelings for her, and then tell me a month ago, he didn't love me anymore and he didn't think I loved him either. It was the surprise of my life.

Small towns and a party

I can't get over how amusing the small-town atmosphere is to me. Don't get me wrong, I love it. But it sometimes makes me giggle, thinking for example about the neighbour who knows everything that's going on in town, to my husband who hates the thought of moving to a 'big' city (how do people drive in such traffic?), to the neighbourhood do's where everybody who is anybody ought to be there.

As promised, I uploaded a photo of the paper boat project mentioned in an earlier blog a few weeks back.  The boats were part of our table decorations at the small wedding celebration with a select few family/friends.

Sleep, who needs it anyway?

3 am and I'm wide awake. Yesterday, the list of spots for next year's internship was released, and my brain is busy frantically tossing up my options.

Having moved halfway around the world to be with my man, a 6-month pharmacy internship is all that stands between me and registration here in Denmark. Trying to pick and prioritize my fav 4 job spots is like... asking me to make any other decision. Only this time, a lot is on the line. Potentially, canie and I will have to move. That is the general idea anyway, but who wants to move one or more hours drive away from the only people you know, in a strange land. It's hard for me too. (joke!)

What to do on a wet weekend?

Forecast: 13 mm rain and 19 m/s winds, an indoors day. The four walls and a roof don't quite manage to keep the chill out, and my feet are telling me I need to invest in some cosy warm slippers.

Quite by accident, have stumbled upon a funky online shop, Etsy, with homemade items, some of which are hilarious. Maybe there's some handknitted socks in my size?
