It's been a few months since we picked up our cat from the shelter. She has really taken up her own space in the house and in our lives. It's a lot of fun getting to know her. Like hos she doesn't like to be picked up much. But since I like picking cats up and carrying them around, she is reluctantly allowing me to do so.
So we slowly figure out what she likes and doesn't like. She likes chasing small toys that we throw across the room. She doesn't like catfood with fish in it. Except salmon. She loves her little toy mouse, but she is not so keen on her toy dog. She merely tolerates her new cuddly toy cat. She loves licking plastic bags and snuggling into armpits. She hates my sheep figurines. She loves Stargate: Atlantis (she watches the intro!), but she does not like horror films.
The biggest challenge is not to make her get along with my parent's dog. She'd get along if the dog just stop barking and wanting to chase her. So we're trying to get the dog to to accept that a cat lives here and isn't going anywhere. The cat is not afraid of him. I wonder if the dog is afraid of her, because she is not afraid of him... Hmmm.
Anyway, this afternoon, we'll try again. I got special treats for the dog, hoping to distract him. And tha cat has graciously decided not to finish her food, so that the dog can eat it. I think. That should help. *keeps fingers crossed*
