It's pretty difficult when some of your online interests are almost completely domineered by pre-teen girls. It leads to loads of drama over small insignificant things. I make little pixel drawn dolls, like so:

Base by Esoterically (that means she made the little people templates)
And there is always some drama going on...
A common point of drama is when one person claims to have made a doll that they didn't make. Or if they took part of a doll and used that on a doll they did make themselves. Or sometimes even when they use the same set of colours someone else uses. Now this may seem petty and small minded... and to anyone outside the dolling community that may be true.
But sometimes the drama flares up and things get torn out of context. A recent discussion about whether or not to put templates that have been traced from anime screenshots should have their own category on an art community, suddenly revolved around the use of the word 'segregation' and 'racial segregation'. Because obviously making a distinction between techniques is exactly the same as being racist, and excluding people bases on where they came from.
It is hard to keep in mind that most people taking part in the discussion are so young that they don't even know what the words are associated with. But if I keep thinking of it that way, at least it is a positive thing. Right?
